Ganglion cyst surgery and pain question? |
I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist. I might get surgery to get it removed, but I am worried it might be extremely painful. I am unable to swallow pills (its not a med condition, I am just unable to swallow them) so that means I can't take pain killers like Advil. I don't want to get the surgery if it is going to be too painful. In that case I will just get the cyst drained. Also the cyst is on my dominant hand so I may have to use my hand as I am in school. I have had two removed. I took pain meds for neither of them. The last one was on the inside of my anke on the ankle bone and I drove myself home after. It is only minor surgery and should not bother you much. Be tough and resist pain meds whenever you can. I also had 4 c-sections and the old fashioned gall bladder surgery and took no pain meds whatsoever. I am on them now and will be for severe spinal stenosis and herniated discs. I would give anything not to be.And about draining it. I got to look at and poke around at my cyst and it was nothing that could be drained just a hard knot. I think thats what they are. This is certainly nothing you should be fretting over. I just dont understand why people just assume they need pain meds. The cyst must not be bothering you too badly or you would go ahead and crush your pill and take it and have the surgery! |
