Ganglion Cyst on Palm of Hand?

I have a ganglion cyst the size of a small pea at the base of my pointer finger on the palm of my hand. I have had it for several months and it didn't bother me, but within the past month it has been bothering me. I hit it on door knobs and it hurts when I write. I want to get it removed, but I'm not sure which type of doctor to go to to have it looked at. Has anyone else had a cyst in that place and had it removed? If so, how did it go? How large did yours get? I am so afraid of needles, but this is really starting to hurt, so I am willing to get poked to get it out of there!

Have it checked if it hurts or is bothersome.

I have one on my wrist. ....not quite the size of a dime.

I have been told they can be removed, but will form again due to the leakage of fluid that creates them in the first place.

I will live with mine for now

I've had 2 removed, on exactly where yours is and the other near my wrist. You ned to see your primary physician who will recommend a hand surgeon or what they sometimes call maxiofacial something like that(don't let that scare you). It takes no time for them to go in remove it and put in a stitch (or 2). Mine didn't bother me until I was driving a stick shift car and it was on my right hand so everytime I shifted I hit it. As far as needles, it will only be the anesthesia needle and then you won't feel it.

1st. if you haven't been to a doctor yet,,, how do you know it is a ganglion cyst?
2nd. it isn't life threatening
3rd. see your primary care .... you'll eventually go to an orthopedic
4th. this is rough, but, it is true.... some ganglion cysts are simply treated with a smash... that's right... smack it with a heavy book... a medical encyclopedia works just fine... the tissue will absorb the fluid and 'voila', you are cured
5th. the inflammed ganglion i suffered from eventually 'went away'...
6th. GOOD LUCK
