When having a ganglion cyst surgey on your right hand, do they put your whole body to sleep or only your hand?

i have a ganglion cyst on my right hand and it hurts so i wanna take it off by surgey, and i was just curious to know that if they only put enough anesthetic for your hand(which youre awake) or your whole body(your sleeping), just kinda nervous watching my own hand get cut open and me watching, i know some people just say dont look but even though they do chanceds are youll look, u know so yeah plz help!

ps: the cyst is the size on a quarter(a little bit smaller!)

I didn't have a ganglion cyst but I did have carpal tunnel surgery. They put me sort of under and the next thing I knew they were waking me up and it was over with. It is more of a sleep rather then general anesthesia. I was worried about sitting there and having them cut at my hand, but it was nothing.

They will probably only numb your hand. I had surgery on my wrist and I was awake during the surgery but they put up a drape so I couldn't watch

I had a ganglion cyst removed from my wrist in 1999. It depends on the nature of the surgery, some are more complicated than others. My surgeon wanted to do it in a day surgery center, and I was put out. Once I woke up, they sent me home. It was real easy.

It depends on the cyst and whether it is wrapped around some nerves in your hand or something whether you will be out or just the hand deadened. Your dr will probably be able to tell you your options for that. If you are awake for the surgery you will not be able to see anything or feel any pain. There is no chance you will be able to see the surgery.
You will have someone by your head monitoring your vitals and if your nose itches just tell him or her. lol
