I have a ganglion cyst...? |
I heard from the doctor that a small ganglion cyst can disappear on its own. Does anyone know, on average, how small it has to be to be considered a 'small cyst'? And what is the chance (percentage) a small cyst will go away? Also.. if it's too big and needs surgery, what is the chance of nerve damage if it's on the back side of my wrist (not the palm side)? Ive had one for 35 yrs. still there not bigger not smaller. Its as big as a small gum ball. Inside of my wrist. (Palm side) place your hand on a flat surface then have a friend slam a heavy book on your wrist, sometimes it works! gets rid of the ganglion cyst w/o surgery! I don't know the percentage your asking but I do know that ganglion cysts usually break on their own but they usually come back. They're harmless. I had one on the back side of my wrist like you. It would break and go away then be back a few months later. It wasn't big at all, about the size of a marble. I had it removed 26 years ago (back when you actually spent the night in the hospital for small procedures). It never came back and I never had any problems with nerve damage or anything else. If it hurts you, see your doctor and ask to have it removed. My Dad has one on the side of his hand, it's about the size of a marbe. He has had it drained a few times but it doesn't really bother him. |
