I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist....? |
I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist that comes, get pretty big, then dissapears all within 6 months. Then comes back again. In the olden days these cysts were called "bible thumpers". You would take a big book, like a bible, and have someone hit it really hard. It would break the cyst and temporarly fix the problem. The bad news is...there are only 2 ways to correct it. 1) have a doctor place a needle with a syringe into the cyst and drain it or 2) have it surgically cut out and removed. Both have success but they can still return even after the surgery. Good luck with whichever you decide. Leave it alone, they're harmless. If it starts paining you real bad, then you can have it removed, otherwise, touche pas! Do not pop it yourself. They do pass on their own. An inexpensive brace helps with pain and weakness when they flare up. Incidentally, a Dr. will drain it once or twice with a syringe and then suggest surgical removal. It comes and goes based on use, dietary and hormonal changes that you go through. You can pop it...my friend( a doctor) popped his by laying his hand down and having someone take a phone book and smash it. Yea I know sounds nasty, it will probably hurt... but it worked. |
