What is the surgery for a ganglion cyst like?

I have a pretty queasy stomach when it comes to getting cut open. How does the procedure actually work. Oh yeah, the cyst is on my wrist.

I've had 11 surgeries on my hands in 15 years - 4 for ganglions. The surgery isn't that bad. They will do a Bier block for anesthesia (normally), and that means they will deaden just your arm but you can ask for stuff to put you to sleep or stay awake (my dr. used to let me watch!!) They make a cut across the top of your wrist and take the cyst out. Mine looked like a tiny octopus made out of bacon fat. They'll put you in a semi-hard dressing for the first week or so then a cast. Your wrist is pretty sore for awhile but once you start using it again it's fine. Good luck - it's not that bad!

don't they just "crush " them.... if not I'm sure you won;t see anything if they do remove it...don't worry
