Is it possible to have a ganglia (ganglion) cyst on the lower back part of my head? |
like, the bone behind my ear (but not really behind my ear)...more towards where my neck connects with the bone on the back of my head. Yes. . . They say that usually ganglion cysts are found on the hands and wrists. However, ganglia are found near joints and tendons, and there are certainly joints and tendons in your head and neck as well, so I suppose it is possible to have a ganglion there. If it feels like your mom's ganglion, it may be that it is a different kind of a cyst, like a sebaceous cyst. Lymph nodes are another common cause of lumps behind the ear. Take a look at the 1st source below about lumps and bumps. It is pretty reassuring. The 2nd source says that if it doesn't go away in several weeks, then get it checked out by a doctor. Good luck, and I hope it goes away soon. perhaps its an enlarged occipital lymph node. |
