Ganglionectomy. (removal of ganglion cyst)? |
Have you had one? Was it done in the office or outpatient surgery facility or a hospital? What anesthesia was used - local, nerve block, conscious sedation, general? If surgical removal is required, then the Doc removes a section of the tissue that lines the joint or tendon and, the cyst is then removed . This method helps to prevent another cyst from forming. Usually, only your hand or arm is numbed, either by local anesthesia or a nerve block. But, this can depend on the size of the cyst and the Doc's preference. The procedure is done at surgi day center at the hospital and, you can go home a few hours after the surgery. Your hand may be in a splint for several days. I hope that this was helpful. Nerve block along with some mild IV sedation. It was done in a hospital. |
