HELP! Will a ganglion cyst on my wrist go away by itself? or is it necessary to have it removed? |
I have one on my tendon and it kind of hurts but i was hoping it would just go away with time.. will it? I just recently had one removed. My doctor gave me three options 1.Throw a book on it and bust it open they usually have to be taken out Sometimes they do eventually go away on their own. I've heard of people wacking them with a book, seriously, to break them. Your best bet is to see a doctor as I'm sure size and exact location make a difference in threatment. My sister has one on her wrist too and she went to the doctor for it. They told her that they can take it out, but they can't promise that it won't grow back. So, I'd only get it removed if it is bothering you, otherwise you'll be spending money left and right getting it removed all the time. Bree, Quite frequently they go away with no treatment. Surgery should really be a last resort for cases where there is a significant amount of physical or psychological pain involved. Otherwise, it really isn't worth the trauma and rehab that goes along with surgery. |
