I popped the ganglion cyst on my wrist - will it be ok now? |
Basically I got sick of it... 7 months of bull***t from the doctors until I finally found one to inject cortizone into it... that helped, made it smaller and loosened it up, but it was still there and a little bit sore. Since the only other option was surgery, I decided to try and pop it! I'm too much of a wimp to actually hit it with a book, so I just pressed down on it really hard and slowly felt it dissolve and "pop". I drained my own ganglion cyst on my wrist with a syringe a few years ago. It just came back after a few months, but didn't get painful until very recently. Popping a cyst on your own doesn't sound like...the best thing to do. Please go get it checked out. I had a cyst on my wrist and was given cortisone and when it didn't go away, I needed surgery, but it was an outpatient surgery, so it was literally less than 5 minutes and I was out the door 10 mins later. The cyst has about a 90% chance of "making an appearance" again. Your other option, surgury, is probably the best option. They will remove the cyst "sack" from your wrist. You will still have a 10% chance of recurrance. you shouldnt pop things to be honest. because then it will open it to infection. but if you did. then maybe wash it off and put a bandage on it and if things get worse then see your doctor as soon as possible. but you should be ok. if you say its seems to be getting better =) |
