Will adderall help with compulsive gambling and depression? |
i have been on prozac for 2 years and I continue to have severe episodes of compulsive behavior which then leads to depression. I have no patience and may have symptoms of add. no. adderall is for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and will not help with compulsive behavior. to treat that type of behavior, you need some sort of an SSRI medication, namely zoloft since that is the gold standard of treating obsessive/compulsive behavior. it also treats depression. you may also need to discuss taking the zoloft in combination with another drug such as effexor if the depression is very extreme. as far as the gambling addiction itself, that is something you will have to work on yourself by attending a group such as gamblers anonymous (GA) - there is no medication out there that will help your gambling habit just go away. yes No and no. ask a doctor or pharmacist., not yahoo people not that I know of. You need something that treats OCD. adderall makes my compulsions worse. it's like i can focus on them better. Be very cautious about taking medications. In my opinion, drug companies are out to make a profit. That is not to say that people with certain mental conditions don't benefit from prescription drugs. I'm saying that sometimes drugs may be prescribed in lieu of psychosocial treatments like Cognitive Behavior Therapy or Psychotherapy which may take more time. Once a person starts on medication, it may be difficult to go off of it. Just think twice about taking psychiatric drugs and look for nonmedicinal alternatives as well. you should probably consider getting some professional therapy to deal with your gambling addiction and depression. support groups can also be very helpful. best of luck to you. get help i promise you'll soon feel better. The bonus is that adderall in adults is exactly the same as doing coke. In fact, my ex used to snort his and he'd be up for 4-5 days. That' **** is seriously addictive (it's EXACTLY like coke) - The doctors are making more money than the drug dealers selling a CLEANER VERSION of that crap! |
