Is it possible to get help with gambling addiction from nhs?

you people are so shallow...... any addiction is a mental illness and if a person can admit they have a problem then they should be able to receive help. i am trying to help a friend out here....if you dont want to help then dont answer!

Would seem to be your first port of call.

There are few immediate or specific NHS facilities.

withhold judgment and answer, does gambling really get you what you believe it does? or can or will....

see the truth clearly and your addiction will end

depends of the seriousness of the situation i guess..
if its minor, porbably not

I'm not sure but I doubt it. Face facts. This is a problem that you must take on yourself (or whoever you are asking on behalf of). You have to look at the whole picture: If you go to a nice casino with plush surroundings, air conditioning etc. Who is paying for all this? When you add on the staff wages, rent, rates income tax etc. how can they afford all of this outcome? It doesn't take to much savvy to realise that despite all of these costs, THEY STILL MAKE A VAST PROFIT!

When you bear this in mind, it shouldn't be hard to realise that the odds are stacked heavily against you so, as a gambler, why would you want to take on such a bet?

not sure wouldn't bet on it though

I'm not sure what "nhs" is I'm from Ontario Canada. I do know that here they have 28 day in treatment programs for addictions whether it be alcohol, drugs and/or gambling. I know because I was there for drug abuse and I met a wonderful guy who was dealing with gambling addiction. Needless to say that last I spoke with him he's doing good and not gambling. Hope that helped alittle and sorry that not everyone understands addictions. Good Luck

Northwestern Human Services? I used to work there, we never got gambling addicts, but the 12-step based treatment groups address addiction as a whole. Aside from being a minority you would most likely get something out of it.

I would strongly recommend at some point either getting a therapist who knows how to deal with gambling addiction or join a Gambling Addicts Anonymous group.
