Does fasting cause incidental gallstones?

While getting a CT, "incidental gallstones" were noted on the report. When I asked my PCP about having to undergo gallbladder surgery, he said it was nothing to worry about seeing I am dealing with no effects from it. I do participate in vegetable or fruit only fasting regiments occassionally. Gallstones aren't a factor in family history, either. I am at a childbearing time of life, and don't want this to be a factor once deciding to get pregnant. Any thoughts or experiences? Greatly appreciate the feedback, folks!

Incidental Gallstones are more common than previously thought. Chances are they won't bother you. But you did mention wanting to get pregnant? During pregnancy, they are more likely to become symptomatic. And you might wish that you had them out before the pregnancy. On the other hand, they may not cause problems and why have surgery needlessly?

It is common for some people to have gall bladder attacks and not know that's what they are. Sometimes the attacks cause shoulder or upper back pain ( referred pain) and this can be misinterpreted as a different problem (other than cholelithiasis).

Good luck with teh stones and the pregnancy.
