Gallstones possibly? |
I have had some stomach pain on and off since November and have also been a member of Weight Watchers for 3 years. I've found that since this pain, which I assumed to be an ulcer I developed as a child, I have not been able to lose weight at all. Both my mother and sister have had gallstones and I'm wondering if maybe that could be what might be causing this pain...I don't always have it after eating and there are times when my stomach is very sensetive and I can't stand to lie on my stomach when I'm having the pain. I have been to a doctor and they just tell me to continue to take the antacids, Tagamet HB or Prilosec OTC, for it since I also have some heartburn and acid reflux. Does this sound to anyone like it might be gallstones? I've been researching gallstones since my sister was diagnosed with them and some of the symptoms just seem very similar to what I'm dealing with. stop guessing tell the doctor you want to be tested for gallstones , if that is your problem you want to get it taken care of as quickley as you can. i had mine done about 9 months ago. i have no regrets getting it done. was scared at first making the descission to get it done . the longer you wait to get it done the more things can go wrong. so dont delay. good luck dont stop looking the doctors dont know everthing, but they know alot I read that if you lose weight rapidly you can develop gallstones. I have them and I have soreness on my right side kind of under my ribs and around to my back. My side kind of aches a lot of the time and sometimes the pit of my stomach burns and hurts. I thought I had an ulcer, but the doc did an ultrasound and found gallstones. I have had this pain for about 4 years. I need surgery eventually, but am holding off until I cannot stand the pain. Right now it is a kind of dull pain. You should see if your doctor would give you an ultrasound. That is the best way of telling if you do have gallstones. I have tried taking antacids for my pain, but they do not help. I also have a lot of flatulence and sometimes diarrhea. My doctor thought I could have irritable bowel syndrome at first. The gas, diarrhea, and bloating can be signs of gallstones, too. |
