Gallstones operation?

im having an gallstones operation soon, age 14
how long will i have to stay in hospital and of school?
and is it likely ill gain weight becuase of it

my boyfriend was off work for two weeks after his op, but was home within a couple of days.

He lost weight after the op, and now does not gain weight as easily.

You're young to have this. My mother in law had her gall bladder removed by key hole surgery and was in hospital for about 3 days. She recovered very quickly and no she didn't put on weight. Ask all these questions when you go to hospital and they should also give you an information sheet. At your age you should be back to normal very quickly indeed.

It all depends on what kind of surgery you are going to have.

If they are removing your gallbladder, it can be done "open" or with a laparascope. Open surgery would probably require a day or two in the hospital, while laparoscopic surgery could be done with release the same day or overnight.

If they are removing stones by sending tubes down your mouth to grab them, you shouldn't have to stay overnight.

If you are otherwise healthy and only 14, you probably won't have to miss school for more than a week for open surgery, and not more than two days for laparoscopic surgery.

Your doctor may tell you different, because your doctor has knowledge about your condition that even you might not know. Gallstones in 14-year-olds are very rare, so it may be more complex than your average person. Also, medical practices vary in different countries.

Having gallstones or your gallbladder removed will not cause you to gain weight. However, most people who have gallstone problems get to be pretty careful what they eat, and avoid fats because they cause gallbladder attacks. They don't have to be as careful afterward, and may gain weight because they just eat more.

YOU STAY IN HOSPITAL ABOUT 1-2 DAYS AND NO U WONT PUT WEIGHT ON

its a day operations some ppl r in there a day and some ppl r in there longer it depends on the body you be out off school for about a week no u wont gain weight they do it by key holes
