Gallstones have surgery or try something else? |
I have been haveing problems with my tummy for a while now. I just found out that i have gallstones. I am 22yrs old. I get a lot of pain with it. Would it be best to have surgery or something else? i'v been having pain with it for 6 yrs. it has gotten so bad i can't lay on my tummy any more. Dear Jessica My mother-in-law was just diagnosed with gallstones and the doctor told her he isn't going to do surgery until the pain gets so bad that's it's unbearable. She's suppose to just watch what she eats and not eat anything that is hard to break down such as corn, cabbage and fatty meats. Good luck to you. My wife had hers out and it was very serious. Yet she was much better the very next day and has not had any trouble since. I had the same problem several years ago. The doctor told me that with the pain I was having, the only thing that would really help would be surgery. It wasn't that bad. I felt bad for about three days and then started getting back to normal. Hope it works out for you. I had the same problem when I was 20. Mine were so bad, I had to have the surgery. Don't have it unless you have to. Some people can go for years with gallstones and not have the surgery. My sister has for at least 3 or 4 years. If you opt not to have the surgery, when you start having pain again, you probably should go ahead and have it. it's no other way dude..you gotta go under the scalpel Please see the webpage for more details on gallstones. I had to have the surgery when I was only 15 years old. I tell you I have had 2 babies since that surgery and having gallstones pass is comparable to giving birth. Chances are that these little stones will get bigger and bigger. So my advice is to have the whole gallbladder taken out and pass on the years of pain and suffering. Surgery hurts but those little guys hurt much worse. I'd opt to go with the surgery. I had the laparoscopy surgery where they just make four tiny incisions which are not at all noticable unless I point them out. Laparoscopy is where they use a small camera and a liitle suction tube or something to that effect. Pains gone now. Gall bladder stones can run in families. They are more commonly seen in women. The commonest person affected being a Fat, Fertile Female in her Forties. It is also known to occur in Post Partum (delivery) Primiparas (First pregnancy) who were Previous Pregnancy Pills takers. If your ultra sound shows large stones in the gall bladder, you will need surgery. If the stones are small and you have not yet had an episode of cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder)- which is characterised by severe colic and fever with chills and jaundice, and if the ultrasound shows that the gall bladder wall has not thickened (i.e. it is not more than 4 mms. in thickness) you could try alternative forms of treatment like homeopathy. Berberis vulgaris tincture is particularly known to be very effective. surgery is safe,in and out in one day,can be removed with laser therapy. |
