I have questions about pancreatic mass... gallstones? |
I took my mom in to the ER two weeks ago because she was complaining of abdominal pain and pain in her back aswell. They did an ultrasound and catscan and found gallstones and a pancreatic mass. They also did an ekg and her heart results came back abnormal, She is 74 and has always been in good health except about 15 years ago they found an ulcer. But overall shes very active and strong!! She does smoke but does not drink. The doctors said that if they attempt to operate her she might die because of her age and heart condition. So the Dr. said that she'd live longer if she left it untreated. She agreed. She was only given pain pills. I am doing researching and even suggested to her to go get a 2nd opinion!! please help w/ any advice....Do we just leave it alone... could it be something else?? Please keep my mother in your prayers....:.) You can definitely do something yourself about the pancreatic mass and the gallstones.Mom is active and strong, so she will have no problem doing these exercises (pranayam), which will get rid of the stones and bring the pancreas back to normal. Both of you can do the pranayam, and compare notes.Within weeks you will start to see the benefit. When completely normal, continue the pranayam once a day. I would have a Gastroenterologist evaluate her. A pancreatic mass is often malignant (85%). Even if you decide not to treat it, a definitive diagnosis should be made (although, some people don't want to know if they have something bad). Since she had abdominal pain radiating to the back, I'm assuming the mass is causing some obstruction of the pancreatic outlet, resulting in pancreatitis. Recurring bouts of this would make life miserable and very painful. It's true that at her age, some cancers/malignancies are not treated, figuring it would add little, if any, years to your life at that point, or the risk of treatment is too great. This is called, 'watchful waiting' in medicine. Just as an aside, for what it's worth, someone once told me about a friend who was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer and was told there was nothing to do for it; go home and god bless... well, after some research, the guy went on the cancer diet program of Dr. Lorraine Day. He reported to his friend that over time the tumor disappeared and he is still alive today. But whether or not this is an option for your mom, you should definitely see a specialist to properly diagnose and /or treat this condition. dear god pls pray for this lady give her and her family the strenght they need. While Jeremiah was shut up in the courts of the guards, the Lord said to him...Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. |
