For those who have/had gallstones.....?

How do you deal with the pain from a gallbladder attack from the gallstones? I had one yesterday the woke me up early in the morning and went to the ER and found out I had gallstones. I was told to stay away from fatty foods, since they tend to give you the 'attacks', so today, I had fruits, salads, and cheerios. I am having another attack as we speak and I can't handle the pain. I was told to follow up with a family doctor sometime this week, so first thing in the morning, I am making an appointment. In the mean time, what can I do to help the pain? The hospital gave me no meds at all, but I have read that some people get pain killers. Is that true?

oh, and this is the 5th attack in about 2 months.....

I didn't have gallstones but I did have a bad gallbladder. Not sure if they told you but your gallbladder will have to come out. I can't believe they didn't admit you and take your gallbladder out then, especially if you are in pain???

When I had gallbladder attacks there was really nothing I could do except take a pain pill. I would call your family doctor first thing tomorrow and explain to him how much pain you are in and ask him to see you immediately. The problem is - he is just going to send you to a surgeon. It's just going to prolong the pain which has to suck.

I feel for you. Just call the doctor ASAP and plea for help.

By the way, my doctor gave me painkillers until I was admitted to the hospital.

Good luck

because of people abusing painkillers they don't prescribe them much at all anymore. another case of someone else stupidity hurting honest people.

staying away from fatty and spicy food will help. coffee causes attacks in some people.

When having an attack try using a heating pad.
