Gallbladder Removal...?

I am having [at least] weekly severe pains in my abdomen.. I went to the doctor and he said he thinks it is gallbladder disease. I am set to have an ultra sound at the end of the week to find out for sure. My questions are.. is gallbladder disease the same thing as gallstones? Anddd.. how big of a chance is gallbladder removal surgery - meaning, do they usually take it out when you have pains often (weekly in my case) or do they make you change your diet or try other remedies?

First you should get the ultrasound. If you have stones in your gallbladder then you will be needing surgery. Gallstones usually get trapped in your bile ducts after you have eaten something high in fat, but not always. The pain is dull, starts suddenly and ends suddenly and never has any highs or lows. The pain usually radiates to your back between the shoulder blades. Attacks can last several minutes to several hours.

If you have more than 3 attacks the doctor recommends surgery.

I had my gallbladder removed 9 years ago with the 4 tiny incisions. I had 19 attacks before surgery and another 16 attacks 3 weeks after the surgery. Sometimes, a stone can be left in the bile duct and it takes a long time and a lot or freakin' pain for it to pass after the gallbladder has been removed. Not to freak you out....but things do happen.

My Surgeon told me that if a person has mmore than 3 attacks then the gallbladder should be removed. Report It

Having Gallstones causes can cause an inflammation of the Gallbladder commonly referred to as cholecystitis. General practice is if someone is experiencing alot of pain with frequent episodes of cholecystits, antibiotics are given to settle the acute episode and then surgery can be scheduled for remove the Gallbladder, this can be done with keyhole surgery. First they have to confirm the diagnosis by doing the ultrasound. Good luck, hope all goes well
