If I've had my gallbladder removed for 5 yrs, why am I still having gallbladder-like attacks? |
Diseased Gallbladder removed in 2001 at age of 26. Still continue to have similar gallbladder "attacks" periodically. Almost unbearable "boring" pain in center of stomach radiating to center of back, nausea, vomiting, always hits around 2-4am, every other month or so. Pain lasts for 10-12 min, then subsides for 3 min, and this continues for a couple of hours each episode. Could this be pancreatitis? I am not a drinker or diabetic, but have dealt with hypoglycemia for past 8 or 9 years. Would appreciate answers from those with experience or expertise in this area. I also had gallbladder surgery. The surgeon said the reason i had such a large cut was because they had to make sure there were no gallstones trapped between where the gallbladder was & down toward my stomach. They found no trapped stones but the surgeon said it happens. If your surgeon didn't explore for furthur stones you should talk to your doctor. They can find any stones that were left,if that is the case.Wish i could help more.Hope it turns out ok.I remember how bad the attacks hurt!! Best wishes!! Report It Kidney stones? That sounds a lot like what I went through when I had a kidney stone. You should book yourself for an abdominal ultrasound. could be a colon problem.. my friend had to go in for something like that and said it was either gallbladder or colon... Stop eating fatty foods could be either an ulcer or adhesions from the surgery. Go to the doctor. I know someone with gallbladder problems can continue to have lesser problems for a long time after it's removed, but this could be serious, and it's better to know for sure. Well, even if the gall-bladder has been removed you can still get a sort of hyper-active spasm of the duct that led to the gall bladder but you should be sure it isn't something else. I'd get some blood work done to check on the liver and pancreas. Lots of things could go wrong in there. Hopefully it's something simple that can be treated with medication but you may have to have more surgery. Definitely get to the doctors, have blood work and maybe an upper GI. They know ways to get the same symptoms started as a gall bladder attack so they can see what's going on while they're doing the GI. Good luck. A very close friend of mine had her galbladder taken out and her body still produced stones. It is unusual but it does happen. Is your diet spicy? I cut off the spices (now completely) and the pain is gone..... I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago and were having the same pain like sympomts, just like the attacks. My doc finally started doing some tests and it turned out to be an ovarian cyst, that was growing and hurting all the way up into my stomach, maybe you should get checked out i had to t=have an ultrasound to determine that. good luck did they remove your appendics too. that could be your concern. also kidney stones. this is something you immediately should address with youe doctor. nurses only can advise you to go see doc and give you their opinion. hun it could be a number of things... kidney stones, yes it could be PCOS- if you are a woman- polycystic ovarian syndrome basicly a sh*t load of cysts on ovaries etc- could be mentral cycle kicked out of wack too- see your doctor asap- pendicitus- your appendix- which is useless would have ruptured you will die seek professional medical attention imediatley if you suspect this. dont wait that if very life thretening and will kill you it will release toxins that were stored in the appendix and into the body causing unbareable pain abdominal cramping pucker factor of like 1000 and WILL KILL YOU SEEK PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATLEY IF YOU SUSPECT YOUR APPEMDIX COULD BURST I have gullbladder problemsa,I have a friend and uncle that say thay still cannot eat greasy foods after their gull bladder was taken out!! They always told me that my diet would help because i am a vegetarian but i eat seafood and i treated myself to a home made fried shrimp po boy !! I hurt like HEll !! See i have spells like that but. I know it is gullbladder!! Are you eating greasy foods??? because i know i can't eat them and my uncle said after his gulllbladder was taken out any thing fried or greasy just passed through him. |
