Medical professionals: I am having a second hernia repair surgery... what are the risks? |
During my first pregancy, I got gallbladder disease and shortly after my c-section, I had a laproscopic gallbladder removal (bellybutton incision). During my second pregnancy (twins), I tore a hernia in my bellybutton. I am not sure if it is from the incision from the gallbladder surgery, or if the hernia is just from the pregnancy. But, I had it repaired during my c-section for the twins, and it has since torn again. I will have another repair surgery to fix it. The dr. said he will cut a U shape under the bellybutton and tuck it into the bellybutton. I'll get a bit of a tummy tuck. He will not use a mesh patch at all. Well, I should have asked more questions, but didn't. So, I need to know the risks? He said I shouldn't get pregnant for 2-3 years after the surgery, and even then, any future pregnancy causes the risk of it tearing again. What exactly are the risks? Would there be any risks to the baby if I were to get pregnant? Will my muscles be too loose and weak to have a flat tum These are all questions you should put to any doctor that recommends the surgery, and not to people on here with very limited knowledge in the medical field. |
