Would overdosing on OTC pain killers, but not have to go to the ER from it cause liver damage / liver disease?

I use to take alot of aspirin (more than the recommended amount) for a chronic pain which turned out to be gallbladder infection. Could this cause liver disease / damage? How would I be able to find out if I have liver damage / disease?

Aspirin is safe. Even in moderate overdosages.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not safe, and it very easy to overdose and destroy your liver.

A physician can talk with you about your concerns.

A common sign of liver disease is jaundice, the whites of your eyes turn yellow.

Go to the doctor and get a liver function test. That is the only real way of knowing.

Aspirin does not affect the liver as much as tylenol. If you have concerns about your liver, go to your doctor and have a liver profile done. It is a simple blood test.

a simple test from your doctor can tell if you have liver damage and to what extent. Yes otc pain killers over extended periods of time can cause complications.

It might be possible

It is acetaminophen (Tylenol) that is rough on the liver not aspirin. It causes other problems

Agree with above. Aspirin, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), when taken in large amounts, tend to affect the kidneys more than the liver. I would be more worried about kidney problems. Usually, it would take many months and large quantities to produce this. If anything, you should have your kidney function tested. But certainly, this is a reminder that if you have persistent problems, you should seek professional medical evaluation.

Any type of pain killer regardless of OTC or Rx can cause massive liver and kidney damage on a FATAL LEVEL. I try to use other things, as far as the infection goes get antibiotics from your regular doctor. liver disease = no. luckily your liver regenerates so get the antibiotics, tone way down on the Painkillers, and never exceed recommended amounts EVER!!! it can kill you from liver failure or kidney failure!!!!!!
SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY AND TELL HIM/HER YOUR SITUATION AND ASK FOR ANY ANTIBIOTICS.
AVOID CONSTANT USE OF IBUPROPHEN, ASPIRIN, TYLENOL, BAYER, ETC.

you need to tell your doctor ASAP how much you took because otc pain killers can be harmful even deadly in excessive doses.
