I'm concerned about the condition of my liver, would any problem been detected during hospital stay for labor?

This is probably a weird question, but I've been really concerned about the state of my liver due to a recent emergency gallbladder removal surgery and since I was recently admitted to the hospital due to I was pregnant and going into labor, I was just wondering if the doctor's or nurses run any tests then that would have been able to pick up on any possible liver disease or problems. I mean becuase they did take blood samples from me & I'm assuming they were testing those samples to check for any health problems. Or am I wrong? What do they do with the blood samples they take during hospital stays due to labor?

I know exactly why you are concerned!! I have been through a very similar situation.

It started two months ago when I had extreme pain in my right upper stomach and was 8 months pregnant. I called my doctor that evening and they thought it was the flu and suggested I come in the office the following day for a check up. My blood pressure was sky high, so they rushed me to labor and delivery, and then by ambulance to a hospital more prepared for premature deliveries. They diagnosed me as preeclamptic because my liver enzymes were elevated.

To make a long story short, I was induced at 32 weeks just two days later and my little girl was born.

Two weeks after her birth, I was in the ER with the same severe pain - and was diagnosed with gall stones. Six ER trips later, they scheduled an emergency removal of my gallbladder because they believed stones to be blocking the bile duct, causing my liver enzymes to elevate.

I am scheduled to get blood work done next week to check my liver and make sure things are going back to normal now that my gallbladder has been removed.

I said all of that to say this...
I WAS DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL AND MY LIVER ENZYMES WERE SEVERELY ELEVATED. I would call your primary care physician and request they do bloodwork to check your blood count and liver enzymes. It can never hurt to find out if everything is ok. It will be well worth the extra visit to the doctor.

Hope that helps.

If you recieved good prenatal care then they did the tests. I know they checked mine when i was pregnant.

why are you concerned about this, what makes you wonder if something is wrong with your liver..it would be up to your regular doctor, not your ob to be checking out that stuff..call your regular md...my opinion there are so many different tests for liver functions and such,if you are there because you are in labor any blook work would be related to that...checking clotting factor, red blood levels for anemia, white cells for infection
