Severe ongoing stomach pain?

I've had severe upper abdominal pain for the past few months now. I'm often nauseated, exhausted, and sometimes double over in pain, and it's typically worse after eating, particularly with starches. I've had blood work to test liver, pancreas, gallbladder, CBC, celiac testing, and an ultrasound, all of which have come back normal. I am scheduled for upper GI/small bowel follow through x-rays, but I'm still waiting for those. I do have a strong family history of crohn's disease, and I am diagnosed with endometriosis. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with me?
Thank you!!

My liver, gallbladder, and pancreas are fine, and the celiac screen came back negative.. I eat really healthy, I'm a vegetarian lots of fruits veggies, whole grains etc and always eat small portions (especially now, because eating makes me feel like barfing) My pain is limited to my abdominal area.

This could very well be from your endometriosis. I have endo and it used to hurt me horribly. I too would double over in pain. I felt like I was getting stabbed in the lower right side of my stomach. Since being diagnosed I have had two surgeries which greatly helped. I would recommend going to a Dr that specializes in endometriosis and knows how to properly treat it. I have gone to a Dr that didn't have a clue what he was talking about and one that is wonderful. For now for the pain, try using a heating pad or some of those medicated patches that you place on your skin and are warm. For me that has been the only thing that has helped me. I hope you get to feeling better soon:) If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

follow up with your doctor. seek a 2nd opinion.

Have you been tested for Crohn's disease? If it came back negative you might be gluten intolerant. Dietary changes can and will make a huge difference. Read up on it and make the changes. If it helps you are great. Changing your diet won't hurt you at all so start tomorrow!

Endo. can be doing this. I have this and know the pain and discomfort it causes. Complete your tests and follow up with your doctor(s). Also, I had my gallbladder removed. It took a couple of years to get the diagnoses, this also happened to my sister in-law, it seems to be the norm. I was also tested for Crohn's - my father had it.

it could be irritable bowel syndrome it could be certain foods u may like but ur belly dosent like. eat live plain bio yoghurt not flavoured plain is better that settles the stomach better if its not that it could be 3 other reasons nervous dyspepsia or ulcers or maybe indigestion

I saw the list of inv. + procedures you have gone through/will be going through. I think Esophagogastrodudenoscopy (upper GI endoscopy) is one missing & would be important in your case.
Good luck!

sounds like a gall-bladder... after eating is when your gall bladder would bother you. Have they performed a hida scan on you? If not ask your doctor if he thinks you may need one.

symptoms sound like gall bladder severe pain after eating especially things with fats in them which somewhat includes starches.... what if you had like a big cheeseburger? Also does the pain radiate to your upper right shoulder that's usually a sign of a gall bladder. abdominal pain is tough cause it could be a lot of things....

IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY MEDS IT COULD CAUSE THE PAIN YOU DESCRIBE. ESPECIALLY IF YOU TAKE THEM ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

ASPRIN IS AN ACID SO THAT WOULD DESTROY YOUR TUMMY LINING IN A HURRY. I DON'T CARE IF ITS COATED OR NOT.

IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING YOU ARE INGESTING AS ALL OF THE BLOOD WORK FOR LIVER, PANCREAS, GALLBLADDER , CBC, ETC COMES BACK NEGATIVE.

The only thing that i can say is don't be abusing any thing at all like any type of new medication that you may be taking for the past few months. also aspirin i heard can cause some people stomach pain, even internal bleeding. What i would do is change your diet and eat only healthy fresh salads and fresh fruit. You should drink a full 8 oz glass of Aloe Vera juice because aloe has many healing properties and is will known for healing stomach pain. If you need anything or have any questions then send me an email

Here is a site that explains the causes of abdominal pain
according to the area it is located in. This is a
professional site known as The American College of
Gastroenterology.

I hope this gives you some idea of the info you need.

Hi There~

From your stageivplus endo sister here. Yes, :) these upper and lower GI problems can be the hardest to pinpoint. I have to tell you honestly, I have had this disease 17 years and not once has any of the endo of the colon, bowel or intestinal tract shown up on all the series they run. I just had surgery in May after my last one was 9 years ago and they found the colon was bound down in three hidden areas by adhesion's from past surgeries.

For 19 months I was miserable and all test showed "within normal limits". I even had a laparosocopy that showed "pristine". I knew better as only laparotomies for me have been the best way to view and sure enough can I say my insides are not straining or pulsing or throbbing daily. Before surgery I was bloated all the time and it got to the point where I was colicky with spasms and throwing up every 6 weeks like clock work and they said it was all normal.

I still watch what I eat as I know adhesion's can form again and I don't want food lodge in there but yes...with endo it's a very tricky disease and if it's left behind it can be hiding in there.

I hope this helps. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have. I wish you the best possible outcome for your situation.

Thinking of you..

a lot of women that suffer from Endometriosis experience these pains or pains that are similiar .I recently had surgery on May 24 and I no longer feel this way . It is actually weird to be virtually pain free . I see that you are a veg. . Do you eat a lot of soy ?I find that soy or prod . with it can seem to upset me . Also I have cut out all products that use BHT as a perservative . It seems to be making a difference for me . How were you diagnosed with Endo ? Do you have a doctor that you are happy with ? I love my doctor and he is located in NYC .
