GERD (stomach disease)...serious answers only.?

ive had GERD for about a year now, and im 15..
but i have two questions,
1, can you get ulcers from it?
2, im always really gassy.... is this because of hte gerd? and what can i do to stop it !! =(

#1 yes
#2 yes
talk to your doctor, there are medications but because of your age you should not take it without talking to him/her. Meanwhile try to stay away from foods that are spicy. Eat more fruits and veggies, more fiber.
Sincerely,
Doc

Im not sure if you can get stomach ulcers from GERD but i have heard it to make people really gassy. my son had gerd but hes only 2 months. i took him to the docotor and they told me i couldnt give him anything because he was so young. do you have acid relux too? thats a common symptom of gerd, if so im sure if you take some antacids like rolaid or tums it should help. they have antacids that help with gas and bloating too.

....I had it for years....at your age...you must have a bad connection at your stomach and esophogous.....ulcers are in your stomach but it is serious as it can ulcerate your esophogous(spelling bad)...or even cause cancer from prolonged reflux...not to mention the pain.....I assume you know all the things about raising the head of your bed and such...are you on prevacid or prilosec yet?.....I had the fundiplication surgery where they tie the top of your stomach around the bottom of your esophogous....they did mine lathroscopically...(I reccomend).....I was out in 24 hours and 2 or 3 weeks later had fully recovered and was eating normally........although advised against by my gastrentololigist.......(I don't need him anymore)....I am VERY happy and no longer have any heartburn from anything anytime.....no expensive meds.......insurance paid.......I too was gassy.....the gerd is a factor....the rest is the way you eat...taking in a mouthful of air with each bite....you must be concious of this th retrain yourself.....after the operation I was alot less gassy........good luck.......

If you have excess acids, you can develop an ulcer. If you are always gassy, you may have a hiatal hernia, or the flap in your esophagaus may be weak, allowing acids and such to back up into the esophagaus. Beano works great at reducing the gassy feeling. Also, certain foods will trigger more than others, hard to digest foods, dark green leafy vegetables are examples. I would get a second opinion regarding your diagnosis, you are very young to suffer from reflux disease.

I was diagnosed with GERD and i suffered acid reflux for about 8 years. I had a biopsy of my stomach taken and xrays of my esophagus. Yes you can get ulcers.

Some people may laugh at what i am about to say and some will say, "i eat like crap i dont get it". Remember everyone is different.

Everything you eat and drink affects your body, so the problem is in your diet. Don't listen to what Dr's are telling you, for a start they are only there to prescribe you drugs. Dr's told me for years that i would be on drugs the rest of my life. After years of research i realized they where full of it. Dr's basically are the go between for the pharmaceutical companies, pushing there drugs out for them.
I am drug free now for over 3 years.

The food industry in this country is 99.9% garbage, by that i mean, filled with additives, preservatives and chemicals. This is probably 99% of your problem.

I will tell you what i did to be drug free for over 3 years now, if you follow my advice that is up to you.

I am not sure about your diet now, but i can tell you start off by dropping all junk fast food. Drop anything that is processed (meaning anything that comes out of a tin, or frozen, or microwaved), most processed food has most of it nutrients stripped. Cut out caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate, pop), one of the major causes of reflux and gerd.

Change your diet to a mixture of fresh fruit and vegetables (check which fruits and veg can cause more gas than others), start buying some organic foods, it can get expensive. Mainly just fruit and veg. Maybe buy a juicer and start drinking fresh juice, not the crap they have from concentrate, if you buy fruit juice from a store make sure it's 100% not from concentrate.
I would say in a month you will feel a huge difference.

There is a book called: 'Natural cures they don't want you to know about'. read it, it has lots of useful information. Some of it is not so good, but 80% of it is very useful.

Also watch this video clip, it will really open up your understanding about the food industry in this country.

As you are only 15 i am assuming your parents buy the food. Have them watch it to it may convince them to buy better food for you.
