GERD (stomach disease)...serious answers only.? |
ive had GERD for about a year now, and im 15.. #1 yes Im not sure if you can get stomach ulcers from GERD but i have heard it to make people really gassy. my son had gerd but hes only 2 months. i took him to the docotor and they told me i couldnt give him anything because he was so young. do you have acid relux too? thats a common symptom of gerd, if so im sure if you take some antacids like rolaid or tums it should help. they have antacids that help with gas and bloating too. ....I had it for years....at your age...you must have a bad connection at your stomach and esophogous.....ulcers are in your stomach but it is serious as it can ulcerate your esophogous(spelling bad)...or even cause cancer from prolonged reflux...not to mention the pain.....I assume you know all the things about raising the head of your bed and such...are you on prevacid or prilosec yet?.....I had the fundiplication surgery where they tie the top of your stomach around the bottom of your esophogous....they did mine lathroscopically...(I reccomend).....I was out in 24 hours and 2 or 3 weeks later had fully recovered and was eating normally........although advised against by my gastrentololigist.......(I don't need him anymore)....I am VERY happy and no longer have any heartburn from anything anytime.....no expensive meds.......insurance paid.......I too was gassy.....the gerd is a factor....the rest is the way you eat...taking in a mouthful of air with each bite....you must be concious of this th retrain yourself.....after the operation I was alot less gassy........good luck....... If you have excess acids, you can develop an ulcer. If you are always gassy, you may have a hiatal hernia, or the flap in your esophagaus may be weak, allowing acids and such to back up into the esophagaus. Beano works great at reducing the gassy feeling. Also, certain foods will trigger more than others, hard to digest foods, dark green leafy vegetables are examples. I would get a second opinion regarding your diagnosis, you are very young to suffer from reflux disease. I was diagnosed with GERD and i suffered acid reflux for about 8 years. I had a biopsy of my stomach taken and xrays of my esophagus. Yes you can get ulcers. |
