Gerd and stomach cancer? |
Does anybody no the true link between Gerd and stomach cancer Serious complications, such as bleeding or difficulty swallowing, can occur, although they are rare. Other possible problems caused by acid back-up include inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis), throat, voice box, and airways. Read my answer from yesterday regarding Barrett's esophagus which is dysplasia (abnormal cells) in the the area where the throat meets the stomach. The same info and links given here for Barrett's apply to stomach cancer. Smoking and drinking are also risk factors for stomach cancer.
