For the GERD, try Pepcid AC for a few days. It truly cleared my problem right up.

IBS = irritable bowel syndrome
GERD = Gastro Esophogeal Reflux Disease

Sounds like this person has a permanent stomachache among other things!

Maybe about a visiting to doctor.

I THINK SHE SHUD SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR FOR OTHER OPINION'S... NOT ONLY ONE DOCTOR IS ALWAYS GOOD... SHE SHUD GO SEE MUNTIPUL OF DOCTORS FOR THERE OPINION...I HOPE U GET WELL SOON!!!

**LIL MISS VIXION**

I am a retired doctor and I have Celiac Disease which is a COMMON CAUSE of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease - aka; heart burn).

Please advise this person to be tested for Celiac Disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy). Sadly, most doctors know little to nothing about it even though it affects 1 person in every 100! It is an autoimmune disease that causes serious damage to the small intestine (the part of the gut where most of digestion and absorption occurs). It is the result of an allergic reaction to the proteins in grains (wheat, rye and barley) known as gluten/gliadin.

Please pass this information on, and thank you for caring enough to want to help another!

P.S. Physicians often are not willing to learn new stuff - especially from a patient. This patient may want to go to the website for the medical journal "Gastroenterology". There he can download over 15 medical papers on celiac disease from their April 2005 supplement.

Best Wishes.

Go to a health food store and buy a book on diverticulitis. These are pouches in your bowel that get full of waste and become infected. GERD is gastro esophogeal reflux disease. It sounds like you may be obese and in need of exercise. What is your age? What is your stress? IBS is irratable bowel syndrome. Causes stomach cramps and pain. In the refridgerator at the health food store is a package of unprocessed wheat bran, about 75 cents. Sprinkle the unprocessed wheat bran over all you eat and into everything you drink. It is pure bulk and just what the doctor wants for you. If you live in America you have the american diet. It is full of processed foods. By sprinkling unprocessed wheat bran over everything you are changing your diet to a healthy African diet, which is full of bulk. Transit time of your food should be one day from your mouth to your rear end. Your waste should be large and moving fast and healthy. Right now you are taking metamucil to help your bowels move. Lastly, try another Doctor because your IBS may be a symptom that you need special antibiotics to kill that particular bacteria in your stomach. Similar to ulcers.

I have GERD and IBS.

For GERD: There are several prescription items available. However, some that used to be prescription (like Prilosec) are OTC now and they work great. I take Zantac, in presciption dose, every day.

For IBS: I've had IBS for apx. 15 years now. Although the description of symptoms says IBS sufferers fluctuate between constipation and diarrhea, I've always had only diarrhea. I tried Imodium and it works short term. However, my doctor has told me not to take it daily because it's very drying. However, just recently I found a product that I swear by! It's called DIGESTIVE ADVANTAGE (Once Daily Irritable Bowel Syndrome) made by the Ganeden Company.

I discovered this great product because I find freebies/samples on the Internet. They sent me 8 chewable tablets and I now buy them from my pharmacy. You don't need a prescription.

Check them out: http://www.ganedenbiotech.com/index.php?...

Hope this helps. After 15 years of IBS I know how aggravating, troublesome, inconvenient and even worrisome it can be. Good luck.
