Are there any good remedies for toenail fungal infections? |
Are there any good remedies for toenail fungal infections? soaking in vinegar water every day for 3-6 months. (that's how long it takes to grow a completely new nail) Lamisil tablets also work but can cause unhealthy side effects. Tea tree oil is also good, but anything you use is going to take months. The cheapest and easiest effective method is the vinegar water. Put 1/2 cup vinegar in a pan of hot water and soak 20 minutes or so every day. (you can keep the water and re-heat and use for a few days before discarding) this is the recommendation of many doctors, because it works. the acid environment created by the vinegar inhibits the growth of the fungus. Pay no attention to the ignorant rude people who say you have this because of poor hygeine. it's caused by fungus, not related to bathing. do you mind, i am eating!!! theres a brand new item now available over the counter for the first time, its called CURANAIL. Its twenty quid but its worth it, after 2 months my hard yellow nails are back to normal. give it a go. My Dr. actually told me to soak it in a solution of 1/2 vinegar and water. Do this once a day and it may take up to 3 mo. The solution does not actually get rid of the infection but it causes it not to spread, the toenail then grows and fungus should go away. Doctors have an Rx for it that is supposed to totally rid it for you. It takes a while, though. The new nails have to grow in. you could try better hygenic skills that always works Tea tree oil footsoak. and clean it with cotton buds soaked in tea tree oil. Keep toe nails short as possible.Sock feet in bleach water.Warm water, with a cap full of bleach. The bleach kills the fungi. Most important keep nail short . They have been showing a new advert on the tv for treating nail infections that you can buy over the counter I think. Try Lamosil. You can either take the oral tablet form, or use the ointment. The pills are supposedly more effective. You can buy the ointment in the drugstore, but the pills may require a doctor's prescription. Monistat Perhaps if you washed your feet more often and dried them afterwards correctly it would go away. If you go down to your local drug store they should have a footcare isle. There is stuff there that should work. If not then I would visit the doctor. A fungus infection can be very irritating and should be taken care of. Treatment Go to www.webmd.com and do a search. The search will probably bring up an overview of such infections and ads for remedies. Go to your GP Tea tree oil at least 3 x daily to affected area. As well as vinegar, bicarbonate of soda is also an anti fungal. Use it at the rate of one level teaspoon dissolved in one pint of water. Go see an MD. He will most likely give you a medicated cream but oral meds get better results. Lamisil 250mg tablet will clear that up good. Ask your Dr. if that Rx is best for your nail fungal. Caution!! Very expensive if no rx insurance, $200-250.00 for #30 tablets. Treatment lasts 3-12 months. (PHARMACY TECH.) anti fungal lotion application on nail and also take anti fungal teblats. Six months of an oral antifungicide |
