In a healthy body, bacteria aid certain processes. Taking an antibiotic can kill off the good bacteria, causing intestinal problems and yeast infections. This is why it's a good idea to take Nystatin whenever you take antibiotics.

Nystatin is safe and effective, with few side effects. If you ask your doctor, and she or he wants to give you a newer antifungal medication, ask her or him to show you the write ups for both in the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) because, from what I've seen, the newer antifungals have terrible side effects. It's your body, so take charge of your health decisions.

You should also know that some antibiotics can interfere with the efficacy of birth control pills (this might not be of interest to you, but it's good to know).

call the doctor for a better explanation. make sure you stay in the office until ALL of your questions are answered. you pay good money for the doctor's time.

A really bad UTI can bring on a fever and chills especially if it progressed to the point where the infection traveled up the ureters and into your kidneys. I have a bunch of things to suggest to you.First of all, take all of the medicine that they give you. When you're finished with it, go to a health food store and get some cranberry capsules.Start taking them once a day before ( sex) and stay on the capsules for at least 2 months until your bladder is healed.#2 Also get a mixed probiotic formula( capsule form is easy to take) and also take one of these daily too for a few weeks. Taking these capsules in combination with each other will help keep bacteria from adhering to your urinary tract as well as it will add friendly bacteria that will help fight off infections in the future. The antibiotics that you're on are pretty strong and can disrupt your digestive system so you'll want to start the cranberry and acidopholus as soon as possible.Womens unique anatomy makes it really easy to get infections like these. It's easy to do prevention agead of time than to have to treat them later. Don't sit around in wet bathing suits and don't wear sceneted panty liners. They're the worst and can also cause some problems that you don't want to have. Good luck.

* When you have a UTI (either bacterial or fungal or mixed infection), it's very important that you immediately increase your water intake by taking one glass after every half an hour or so. At the same time, urinate again and again.
* Cranberry juice (because it is rich in Vitamin C) is recommended by doctors. It prevents bacteria (not sure of fungi) from clinging to your internal organs.
* Avoid sex, specially when the infection is not fully cured. Your boy friend should also take the medicines if you did unprotected sex. Even if a partner does not have symptoms, it's recommended that a couple should take anti-biotic treatment.
* Keep in mind that is is summer time, therefore, take more water always.
* Lastly, coming to your symptoms, you have fever; this indicates your infection has increased. It will subside with elimination of infection. Pelvic pains can be much more severe than menstrual cramps. Make use of hot pillows or hot packs.
