What might be the cause for this recurrent fungal infection?

Hi, I have a problem that I don't know how to deal with. Couple of months ago I had some problems with my cheeks. It was a kind of an inflammation that was very disturbing, so I went to see a doctor. He told me I have a fungal infection. He prescribed some medicine that helped me. But, after a while the infection came back. Should I see the doctor again? What might be the cause for this recurrent fungal infection?

There are many things that can make you vulnerable to a fungal infection; it could be genetics; it could be environment, or it could be something like a vitamin deficiency. Talk with your doctor to see what he/she would suggest to prevent a recurrence.

Hmmmm, what 'cheeks' are we talking about !

Acetolia Robiania, took mine away permenantly, If I ever, ever have a recurrance, I'll buy it again, never had a recurrance yet, and it's been 5 years now, you can get it from a mexican pharmacy for about 5 dollars, comes in a soap bar too, for about the same price, it's a little bottle of liquid that you pour into a cotton ball and apply to the infection, I can get it at (la botica del sol) corner of ceaser chavez blvd and soto st, in East Los Angeles, Calif.

Did you take ALL of the antibiotics?? I know some antibiotics really suck. But you have to take them all, or the infection will come back.

If you DID take them all, call the nurse in the morning. She'll get your chart, talk to the doctor, and get back to you at the end of the day. Good luck. :)

If that is a fungal infection, then antibiotics (for bacterial infection only) should not be prescribed but an antimycotic (for candidiasis). Perhaps the fungus has developed some kind of resistance to the medication and that has made it recur. You might want to consider the intake of herbal remedies for your condition. Herbal remedies can effectively contain the overgrowth of candida on your cheeks without compromising your digestive health and the immune system that protects you from the attack of fungus and other pathogens as well.
