Medical help/frostbite?

I accidentally sprayed my self with dust-off spray. (condesed freezing liquid.) It was only for a millasecond, bt Im a little worried. It took the hair off of the area where it got hit, it's pretty smooth. I can't find out a lot on google about how to actually tell if it's frostbite. The area is also red. I'm just not sure if it's frostbite or what, so ADVICE, please.

Thank you.

The most likely cause for the redness and hair loss is that you have burned the skin and damaged some of the hair folicles. So long as you do not have any loss of sensation in the area and the exposure was only a short spray the recommended course of action is to treat the area as you would any other burn.

If you are worried about it see your doctor or ring him for advice and reassurance.

no~! I would not pay ANY diet pills. PILLS are one of these Americans favorite thing, wanting the quick lazy fast result, it does not work.

Call the emergency room and see what they say. I have done the same thing, and nothing happened. To be on the safe side, call and tell them what happened, and see what they say.

Get help to make sure any nerves are not damaged

If you can actually feel the area in which you sprayed yourself, then your ok. But if you have NO feeling, get off this computer, wrap your hand in a cloth and go to the hospital!

It isn't frostbite. You would know if it were frost bite. Frost bite affects the extremities because there is less blood circulation to them when you are cold and they begin to lose their blood supply. Fingers turn purple or black and you can't feel them. If you sprayed your self you may have damaged the skin in that area a bit, but if blood can still get to the area, not frostbite.

Frostbite (congelatio in medical terminology) is the medical condition whereby damage is caused to skin and other tissues due to extreme cold. At or below -15掳 C (5掳 F), blood vessels close to the skin start to narrow (constrict). This helps to preserve core body temperature. In extreme cold or when the body is exposed to cold for long periods, this protective strategy can reduce blood flow in some areas of the body to dangerously low levels. The combination of cold temperature and poor blood flow can cause severe tissue injury by freezing the tissue. Frostbite is most likely to happen in body parts farthest from the heart, and those with a lot of surface area exposed to cold. The initial stages of frostbite are sometimes called "frostnip", some people can feel these, some not.
