How cold does it have to be before you get frostbite?

Just recently my mom's friend's husband got frostbite on his earlobes. He was really bundled up too, his ears were like all swollen and gross. It only takes like 32 degrees to get frostbite.

32f or 0c

Frostbibte can occur with the temp being a little below freezing. It is a matter of length of time for the exposure. So at 28 degrees it could take a long exposure of 30 minutes. But at -40 exposure would only have to be less than 5 minutes. At -60 degrees it is less than 2 minutes.

Probably less time really. You don't want it. It hurts when you thaw out.
