Fragile X Syndrome? |
My 3 year old has Fragile X Syndrome (if you don't know what this, please don't answer, because I don't feel like explaining it). Apparently, his is a mild case. I would like to know if anyone has know n boys with this to go to college or "beat the odds"? The effects can range from learning disabilities to severe impairment. If your child is significantly behind developmentally, don't expect him to "catch up". It is a difficult balance between hope and realism: push, but don't set unrealistic goals. My mother, who we thought was just a carrier, in fact has Fragile X herself. She graduated from college with her Bachelor's in Business Administration. Of course, her parents did not know she had the mental retardation because it isn't as apparent in women and her retardation is very mild. Report It |
