Has anyone heard of or have a child with Fragile X? I am the mother of a beautiful 4 year old affected by it.

I am in shock to hear that Chris Benoit killed his family and to later learn that his 7 year old child had Fragile X syndrome. My personal opinion is that he should have been a public face for this rare syndrome. What do you think? Please be nice.

hello i have a son with fragile x he was diagnosed when he was 3 (now 8) he is the light of my life. I so look forward to his smile every morning. My son also has alot of other medical problems including epilepsy. and from everything i hear Chris Benoit was in a sense ashamed of his sons fragile x so no i do not think he would have made a good spokesperson. and another thing i would like to say fragile x is not a rare syndrome it is the number one cause of mental retardation whom ever told you it was rare id like to find out where they got there info. for anyone who would like to research fragile x go to www.fraxa.org

They asked him to be a spokesman.He declined because he wanted to keep it private.

I agree that it would be wonderful to have a public spokesman for this little-known condition, however I'm not sure a professional wrestler of questionable character would be the best choice.

I knew a couple with a child diagnosed as a possible Fragile X child, and the stress of dealing with the situation ruined their marriage. The child is grown up now (mid-20s) and is actually doing great, but they were put through a terrible time of doctor after doctor and test after test, with no absolutely definitive diagnosis ever given. That was 20-some years ago, though.....I imagine now the doctors have much more knowledge and insight about this type of disorder.

I am also in shock.....Did you hear that he was forcing his son to take steriods? I have heard of children with Fragile X Syndrome. I definetly think he should have been a public face for this.
