Stress fractures,,and the army.?

can i stay in the army if i have stress fractures in both my shins, that will not heal, its been over a year if not can i request to be medically discharged?

This is something you need to take up with your commanding officer, and the medical corps.

You can always try ... I've seen girls get out of the Army for that same reason - but only during basic training ... once you're at your first duty station I would think they would only give you a medical profile ... and be limited to the things you're allowed to do in the Military ... good luck hope things work out ... !

Perhaps. You'll have to show and have a physician...an army doctor....confirm that you have stress fractures and that they prevent you from doing your job. If you are in the infantry or any of the combat arms where consistent field duty or training are involved this will be in your favor. If you work in finance, QM corp, the AG or the MSC in an administrative capacity you're probably out of luck since the stress and strain on you legs is minimal. Also, they will ask and check to see if you have reported to sick call for this in the past and what your medical records show was the diagnosis. If your records indicated that you have never complained or informed the doctors about the fractures or their examination showed no such fracture, or they prescribed some type of therapy and you either failed to follow their orders....they are officers as well ad doctors... you'll have a very tough time trying to get a medical discharge.

But hey....you can always request a medical discharge. What's the worst that can happen? They say no.
