Fractures:types?

all about fractures and its types

The first site below gives an overview of fracture types and is probably what you want: simple, compound, comminuted, etc.

"All about fractures" would require an Orthopedics textbook... many specific sites in the body have names for a certain type of fracture of a certain bone... the second site below gives an example of that (Monteggia fracture).

idiot

Ask a doctor, moron.

A fracture is a partial or complete break in the bone. When a fracture occurs, it is classified as either open or closed:

* open fracture * (Also called compound fracture.) - the bone exits and is visible through the skin, or a deep wound that exposes the bone through the skin.

* closed fracture * (Also called simple fracture.) - the bone is broken, but the skin is intact.

There are six types:
1. green stick--most common in children because their bones are resilient.
2. comminuted-- the worst to heal because the bone is shattered
3. simple or closed
4. pathological--caused usually by osteoporosis or cancer
5. avuslion- caused by the supporting muscle, common in the knee and shoulder.
6. compression- caused by bones forced against each other, common in the spine.

Greenstick. Compound. Simple. Comminuted. Spiral. Compression. Displaced. Undisplaced. Butterfly fragments. Articular. Peri-articular.

Ask a question to get an answer. Remember. with computers and their operators, its garbage in garbage out.
