Do fractures heal itself?

bcoz one time, when my mom was a hurry, she carried all of the folders with her right arm while her left hand is placing the folders in the shelf..then her sholder hurt.(i mean where the joint-of her humerous bone and her clavicle bone i think...you know the joint between somewhere there.)....she said she heard a popping sound...when she had an x-ray, the doctor said she has a fracture...the doctor gave her a sling...but im still worried about it...can it be healed itself?

i mean the joints got seperated

That what bones do. The only problem can be when a doctor hasn't looked at it and it heals in the wrong position. If the shoulder was in the correct position then it was probably the right thing to do. No worries.

yes it can, all things heal, especially bones

Yes fractures always heal themselves. It's more of a worry if it heals in the right place. Some bones are easier to just heal on there own without a cast depending on the type of fracture. Such as hairline fracture or fractures that don't displace or more the bones apart. So by placing her arm in a sling this will keep her from moving it around and just letting it heal on it's own. Of course if weeks go by and the pain is still the same she may just need a cast. Some people who are really active such as kids end up needing casts because they would not allow there fractures to heal due to there restlessness.

Your mom should heal OK. Just let her know she needs to make sure she doesn't do ANYTHING with that arm because she may move the bones around and it may heal crooked. THAT is what you don't want, it may cause pain in the future.

Hope this helps and puts some ease to your mind.
