Root Fractures, Treatments Please?

i had an accident on a front tooth a few years ago, ive had a root canal recently, but i can still feel pain in the tooth therefore the root canal may have failed.

my dentist also said he as concerns that it maybe a root fracture.

would it be best to save the tooth or just have it pulled for an implant?

if save, what other treatments can they do?

i had the root canal 4 months ago and the pain as been bad for the past few years since the damage happened.

it depends on where is the fracture. vertical fractures usually don't have any treatment and you should extract the tooth. but if the fracture line was in gum line or a few millimeters under it can be cured . we can move the tooth in upper by orthodontic forces or expose the fracture line by surgery (crown lenghtening).
any way i think you should wait more since pain after root canal therapy isn't abnormal within 30-40 days.

Unfortunately there is no treatment for a fractured root. Go back to your dentist for frequent check-ups (at least every 6 months) and he will determine how often you need to have it X-rayed. You can hold on to it for a while as long as your bone level is not diminishing around it...which could compromise the implant treatment plan when you eventually do have it extracted. If it were mine, and the pain wasn't too bad, I would wait and see how it goes and extract it if the bone around the tooth starts to resorb. Best of luck.

Sometimes when a root canal is done and there is still alot of pain it requires a second procedure called a apicoectomy. Ask your dentist about it.

A dental implant might be an option for you if your root fracture can not be fixed by conservative dentistry procedures. Please contact us for potential treatment options.

Root fractures don't really have a solution. I recomend keeping an eye on it, with regular appointments with your dentist. Root canals don't work instantly either. It may be that it settles down in another few months - but it may not, ergo the dentist check ups.
You also have to remember that implants and cost a LOT of money, sometimes up into the thousands, and they can't always be attained on the NHS - you would probably have to go private.

Good luck though!
