Foot Fractures? |
I fractured the 2,3,and 4th metotarsals on my foot, closer to my ankle. I did it on Wedsday night, they put me in a boot cast, its monday and i dont feel that much pain so i have been walking around without crutches (the crutches are causing more paint then the breaks themselves) I was wondering if that would effect the healing. i should probably mention i am a full time student and wear a backpack (due to the crutches >_<) so the weight distribution is a little different. It sounds like you were not given proper crutch use instructions. Shorten your crutches. Crutches are NOT to be sitting directly in the armpit, but are 'high' to help control them so they don't 'turn' and cause you to fall. YOU MUST USE YOUR CRUTCHES. The bones in the foot don't always 'hurt' after the injury, but there are MANY NERVES in your foot that could become 'compromised' if you don't keep your foot at least a 'bit off the ground' and that is why you have crutches. Sorry ... use the crutches until the doctor tells you that you don't need them any more. I know ... I've had broken bones in my feet, too ... |
