Hospital treatment for femur fractures...pls answer if you are in the medical field ;)?

I'm an EMT student and just recently I started working in the emergency room for the clinical part of the course....we need 25 patient contacts and with each patient, we need to fill out a paper on what the condition/treatment was.
So, we had a 93 yr old female come in with a femur fracture (broke right in half), no traction splint was applied, and she wasn't c/o any pain. They took her upstairs to admit and I missed the rest!!!! What is going to be the treatment for this lady? Please help...

They would most probably get her ready for surgery-Open Reduction-Internal Fixation(ORIF) if her general body condition permits. If she was walking before the fracture then she has to be made to walk again, hence the surgery. If there are contraindications to surgery, then there is no choice but to make her comfortable in skeletal traction for about 6-8 weeks then probably get her on wheelchair, just to get her out of bed. f she gets confined to her bed, expect a rapid deterioration in her health at 93.

An open reduction most likely.

Most of the time femur fxs require surgery and the placement of pins and traction, as well as a lengthy hospital stay. I hope this has helped you. WOW, c/o No pain; that's amazing! Did EMS bring her in? Why no traction splint; do you know? Are you sure it was the femur, or was it a hip. Email me and let me know. Good luck with clinicals!
