Any tips for faster healing of fractures?

I have a fracture at the base of my fifth metatarsal (the long bone in my foot which connects to the little toe) and my doctor is telling me at least a two month recovery time, cos there's ligaments attached to the bone which makes it harder to heal (the ligaments are pulling at the bone)). It's overwhelming to think about being a cripple for that long! Has anyone had any experience in fast-tracking their fracture recovery time without surgery?

There's no way to make the ligaments heal faster. Surgery is not going to make this recovery any quicker. You're going to have to learn to be patient and let the body have the time it needs to heal.

Think about people who are permanently crippled and consider yourself fortunate.

How wild I just had did this same thing this last may. I have been in a cast since May 7th and do not get the cast off until June 13th. No sure if I will have to have a walking boot or not.
The Doctor really did not have much to say other then keep off it at first and use my crutches. Then when I got my 3rd cast this last week he said I could bear weight and use only one crutch . From what the doctor told me there is not a fast way for that to heal other than time and patience. I have the time but patience not much of that left anymore.
Since its my right foot I am not able to drive at all and not able to work since I work part time at a grocery store.
