Bilateral fractures of both pubic rami revealed only by CT scan, is weight bearing allowed?

Yes,When trauma to the pelvis occurs, the rami tend to fracture first, Pubic ramus fractures are usually caused by a fall on level ground. Pubic ramus fractures typically heal without causing permanent functional disabilities. patients should begin to walk, bearing weight fully, as soon as possible. Most can walk short distances with a walker by 1 week and are moderately comfortable in 1 to 2 months. Most pts are admitted to a hospital or skilled nursing facility for treatment and observation. This type of fracture is common among the elderly adn in motor vehicle accidents. the common symptom is groin pain and it is treated with pain medication and possibly crutches to help with mobility. Hope this helps
