It is a fracture (crack in bone) of the cervical vertebra the c3-c4 is the part of the vertebra closest to the base of the skull

C3 鈥?C4 is the location in the spine where the fracture has occurred. This particular location is at the third and fourth cervical vertebrae of your spine, which begins just below your skull and ends at your tailbone. The cervical vertebrae are the first 7 bones of your spine. The C3-C4 protects the area of the spinal cord that is responsible for movement of the deltoids, biceps, and diaphragm. People with this type of injury may require ventilator assistance, and be paralyzed from the neck down.
