How can I get out of my house legally as a minor without going to a foster home? |
I am currently living in a tough situation with people who do not treat me like I should be treated as a minor when I do nothing wrong, I have an 11.6-12.0 GPA all of the time, I take care of my self almost completely. They are emotionally, psychologically, and verbally abusing me and I want to get out of the situation by getting out of the house and living with a friend but I do not know how to do that legally because they will not sign me off so I have to continue to deal with the situation and I am not allowed to get emancipated. I want to move into my friend's house legally so that my current guardians that I am living with will not file me as a runaway and I would have to go to juvenile. I have a perfectly clean record and have done nothing wrong and would never want to do something like that. I wanted to know if there was any way that I could get out of my situation and move in with somebody who wants to take me in legally without having to go to a foster home first. Please help. What state do you live in? You may be able to get an emancipated depending on your age and whether or not you can get a job. I would make an appointment with your family law facilitator at the courthouse. I warn you though if you report abuse they will call CPS. use a different name just to get the information. Are you financially prepared to support yourself? living on your own so young is tough...I know first hand. How long do you have until you are out of high school? Try to get some savings...DO NOT runaway. Try some religious houses. get a 4 year plan going before you do anything. good luck and stay strong. dont do anything you'd regret and prove you are the better person. |
