Yawning therapist? Please help!!?

So my therapist yawns alot when I am in session. I just started with her because I just moved to a new state. I am thinking she does not like me or is not interested.

I had a really bad childhood and was in Foster Care for alot of it. I feel rejected alot.

Do you think that this is my issue or is she really bored by me?

nah, that means that shes listening to what your saying, and shes thinking about it.

it was on the news,

Ask her... Are you bored, because you have yawned (don't count them!!!...lol) so many times in our last (#) of sessions... Make her concious of her actions. She will either be different for the future or get a new one if you feel the same rejections from her... Everything is going to be OK.

She's probably just tired. Can you imagine if you spent 8 hours a day listening to the horrible childhoods that all of your clients had? That stuff can emotionally affect mental health professionals. She probably is up all night worrying about you and her other clients.

maybe she's sleepy all the time.

i don't think thats your issue! if shes yawning it could just be she's really tired but i don't think she's a very good therapist if she acts like she's bored! next time she yawns ask her if shes tired alot because you always see her yawning and you may even want to ask her if she thinks your boring...or you could just get a new therapist!

No way, chances are she's just tired! People with emotional issues tend to "personalize" things.. It's a classic "cognitive distortion", when you take a situation and think that it's directed towards you.

She listens to people all day, I'm guess she is tired. It is a bit on the rude side though, considering her line of work. If you feel really uncomfortable, maybe ask her about it, or else just get a new therapist. (I went through 2 before i found someone who was able to help me anyways.)

Good luck!

I would not take it to heart. A therapist has to listen to a lot over the course of his/her day and just sitting and taking notes is monotonous. I doubt very much she is bored with you. You could always try booking an earlier appointment so that you can catch her before she has spent many hours sitting, listening, and writing. It may also be that she does not sleep well (especially after hearing many different life stories, maybe some so upsetting that she lies awake worrying or trying to determine the best approach for helping her clients). You can also try talking to her about the yawning, after all she is there to help you with issues that trouble you.

Get on meds and stop seein her altogether, because I've had a rough childhood as well but 2 years of counseling didn't better me socially or mentally so I got on anti-depressants and I got better.

If you feel comfortable with this therapist, ask her why she is yawning. If you do not feel comfortable with her, get a new therapist.
Some medications can make a person yawn more (like antidepressants). She may also be a new mom who was up all night with a screaming baby.
The point is, that this could be your final straw with her or just a little bump in the road. Only you can know for sure!

yea listen to dorigen shes right. i feel rejected too a lot and my therapist says i cant judge people based on visualizations.
