What do you think about donating one of your eggs, 3 months of work and a painful surgery? |
I'd like to do it, because it seems like a good thing to do. Although, I hate thinking about all of the children in foster care-I'd adopt if it were me and I couldn't have kids. It doesn't risk your ability to conceive in the future. It's not three months of work, and it's not a painful surgery. Oh, and it's not just one egg, it's about 18 or so, whatever you produce during one cycle. Before you do this, you should get more information. If you decide to be a donor, and you weren't donating to someone specifically, then your information would be put into a book and some parents might choose you. Then you would go on a cycle of medications, including some that have to be injected daily. You'd have to go in for regular ultrasounds, sometimes more than once a week. At the end of a month or so, they would take the eggs out... that involves giving you some anesthesia so you wouldn't remember anything (twilight sleep), and it would be perhaps an hour of your time. It doesn't hurt much: having a lot of eggs makes you feel a bit bloated and that's it. So, it's not a lot of work, it's a couple of minutes a day for the medication and some time for the ultrasound. It's not all that painful. There aren't a lot of complications. The people who get donated eggs want to experience pregnancy and have their child grow inside the woman, and perhaps have it be the husband's genetic child. For a lot of people, that seems a lot less risky than adopting an unknown child. And you can go on to have regular pregnancies. Some people also get paid to donate eggs, sometimes thousands of dollars, but you have to be chosen, which means you have to have something to offer, like good looks, height, athletic ability or brains. But, if you are a high school graduate between 18 and 30, at least you can try and see if anyone picks you. You need a lot more education on it, first. depends on the situation each one is unique so it depends on ur particular situation If you are having the second thoughts, maybe this just isnt for you.. Im not sure if I would risk my future of being able to have my own kids for something I was so uncertain about... No it's not a good thing to do. I would advise against giving away your eggs, the cons outweigh the pros, besides wouldnt you want some monetary gain for doing that? youre essentially giving away a child. They don't just harvets one egg, they take a couple dozen. It's in the info you get when you look into doing it. Hi there, |
