How can the state of pa try to take my bipolar 5 yr old because of medical reasons? |
hi, my 5 yr old is bipolar he just went into the hospitol for a med adjustment before starting school.i got a call from children and youth saying i have to go to court tomorrow morning because they want custody of my son because i said i didnt want to put him in a foster care program.(mind you he is bipolar not behavioral).i'm totally confused with this.if anyone has any answers or similar problem please help.i cant sleep i have to be in court in a few hours up for hearing anything. no problems with the stae before he has been no several dr.'s.they said he was bipolar at the age of 3.he has been in many hospitol's.i live in jefferson county pa.and pittsburgh western psych was the first to tell me he was bipolar and every dr after agrees.all 3 of my kids are bipolar.ive been dealing with this for years ive been to learning programs therapist's you neme it iv'e done it.im very educated on bipolar thats why i dont understand this. That's very strange. The doctors may be extremely convcerned he's exhibiting Bipolar at all, it usually doesn't manifest itself until adolescence. Tell them that to remove him from you would cause him more harm. What you need is to have weekly counseling to educate you and your family about his condition. I have a bipolar teenager. She wasn't diagnosed until she was 12. I struggled for her entire life to understand what was going on in her head. Now after 2 years of counseling and medication adjustments we are on a pretty smooth road. I have found that stress and fatigue are her biggest triggers. The state may feel you cannot give him the proper care that he needs. That's all they need to prove. Make sure that you talk to a family law attorney |
