Am I Bipolar?

I have been through a really tough life. I grew up in foster care and i always thought my symptoms were because of the life i grew up in, but now im a young adult and i realize that im alwayz mad. I can change my attiude in two secs. My birth mother has bipolar disorder.
Something small can happen.... and i just Blow up.. off the hendges.. im always complaining of stuff. and i worry alot.. I wanna go to the DR but i have no ins. Help?
Do any of you have bipolar disease? What can i look for?

I am only 20.. but i have been dealing with this for a while now. I know that im not normal. I get so mad at things.. its unreal... i get weird.. like some days i dont wanna go anywhere or talk to anyone..

Sounds like a very good possibility. Go see your Dr. and have it checked out, especially with your mom that way.
A lot of people's attitude can change just that fast anyway, mine can if someone really makes me mad or says something very wrong. You shouldn't be always mad. I know you can find good things around in your life. Go out for walks and enjoy the beauty that was created, go out with friends and have a good time, watch funny movies, just try to control yourself. You know what you are doing, so try and work on it hard, think before you react. But you do need to see a counselor or therapist or even regular Dr. The free health dept. can help with getting you help at no charge or very little and Some Drs. will work out a payment plan and there are places that help the low income, check them all out,get on the phone and hunt them down. Get a girl friend, but you can't treat her that way You have made a good step asking this question and get the help!!===

well... You can google it and find some tips on how ti diagnose the disorder. and you could e-mail to some psychiatrist about how to deal with it if you don't have money to treat it. I'm guessing that you have the disorder. I'm so sorry and I hope you'll work through it. pls contact me and tell me how r u doing.

talk to a professional

yes you do...especially if your moms did

Could be

Its called STRESS and DEPRESSION.

Take a anti-depression.
Simple as that.

Read this link and see if you have any of the symptoms. Best of luck to you, I hope you can get to a doctor. What about applying for your State insurance for the time being?

My dad has bipolar disease and my mom had depression, so I have a mix of that. I'm on Zoloft and it really works. It pretty much stops my mood swings, but if I forget one day, I feel awful.

Sounds like you have anger issues. You may just need a nerve pill. Bi Polar is a lot more than that. Doesn't mean you don't have it. Go to the Health Dept or check with the local hospital and see what your options are. There are resources for those with no insurance.

Hi,

I know how you feel I suffer from sever depression and my ex who im very good friends with still, also is, she has bipolar and its not good at all. you may have it by the sound of your symptoms but you didnt state how old you are, bipolar is often mis-diagonosed to the younger generation of teens due to hormonal imbalance (not that Im suggesting your hormonal just merely stating it COULD be that)

Ive been through a really tough life also and I can totally see where your coming from and feel for you i really do, best bet is to go to the doctors, and tell him everything and tell him HONESTLY if its bipolar you will deal with it over time, and if its hormone imbalance they will do something for that too.

whichever it is i sincerely hope you feel better soon, well, at least fell better MOST of the time.

take care and good luck, all the best

Ted turner had this disorder. Do you let things effect you and influence you that lead to your disorder. Its very simple to remind yourself that these doctors have no idea what they are doing because they constantly keep talking to you about things and you could be telling them a whole lot of crap and they go off that. The phyciatric words is just beginning they still have very little knowledge of the brain and don't understand human characteristics.

The way you overcome this is not from doctors and medication its from having peace in your mind and dealing not with the world until you deal with yourself. The old saying goes if you don't love yourself you will never love anyone else. So it starts with you not them.
I have yet to see any of these doctors do anything but give medication that doesn't do very much for 90% of the people that are on them. True there is people that need this medication and they are under heavy observation and some go violent and become a product of influence and bad deeds. Those are the ones that need the medication. The problem dear is that you didn't get enough love and have not been challenged in the ability that you where designed.

Search further for yourself without the medication and without the doctors, and keep on trying to better yourself everyday because if you can't do that for yourself no one will ever do that. and surely not some pathetic doctor that has no idea what they are talking about. Just ask them to diagnos you without asking you one question they can't. If they where so good at what they do, they would do it for free and everyone would pay them without insurance and everyone would love to go to them and they would not need the pharmasudical companies behind them pushing product and so on. And the hospitals would not use you as a cash cow and keep you held against your will and force medication on you like a communist country would.
The fact that you can't find yourself just adds fuel to their dragons they have no idea how to leash.

you want the truth that is the truth it starts with you not them!

You can also read up on bipolar on wikipedia, about.com and webmd.

I have bipolar disorder and I suggest you read all you can about it and consult your dr.

Bipolar can be hereditary, so yes, you may have inherited it.

If you have this disorder, you need to make sure that you have a good support system with friends, family and dr so you can manage and better control your condition.

Good luck to you, and there are lot's of support groups out there now, look into them (even online).

It could be paranoia and anxiety however since I have a brother that is bipolar, it sounds like yeah you might have it. If you can, try to find a therapist or something. Don't take 1000 pills, that's the mistake my brother made and it only made him worse.
As long as you recognize that you might have it, you'll be able to control it a little better : ).

I hope this helps a bit.

i think bipolar ppl usually have very high energy. do u?

My ex wife has BiPolar, she does not admit it and it makes her "worse" to live with.

Since you think there is a "possability", you have taken a positive step to "get help" [this is good]. Still, this does not mean you are "Clinically Bi Polar" [or not].

The first thing [ you have already started] is look at your life ask "WHY" are you so upset - there are always many reasons. We can understand you would be that way, it has not been easy for you, but don't let this be an "excuse" for you now, if you don't like something do all you can to take positive steps to change it. By doing this you will feel better, more in "control" of your life and each step of the way you will feel more happy. Don't allow circumstances to make you upset, take thought and take positive action. Eat healthy and live free.

i understand. im going through the same thing, where im settled now after a lot of being shafted around home after home, and the littlest things can tik me off. my mother was bipolar too.
however, my stepmom is a psychologist and she says that it may be possible that all the anger and resentment youve felt over your younger life are now just seeping out. the only way to tell for sure is to talk to someone though. but first, maybe try joining kickboxing or another aggressive sport to see if that helps with your anger!

Taking an antidepressant is not the treatment I would recommend given the fact there is family history of bipolar disorder.

Find a pastor/clergy who is educated in psychiatry. (Ordained Presbyterian pastors with a doctorate are required to study psychiatry.)

With or without insurance, you can seek professional help through your local community mental health association. Their charges are based upon income and ability to pay and they cannot refuse you simply because of your financial ability to pay.

Find a local support group which deals with mental illness.
You will discover many who have mental illnesses are quite intelligent and can support you and guide you.

Fear can be crippling. Don't let fear rule your life. Get help before your situation worsens.

Best wishes...

I'm not sure you're bi-polar but I am sure you are extremely stressed and frustrated .... I know it might sound flippant but have you tried counting down to 10 slowly when you find yourself getting uptight, or maybe even just walking away .... you sound as if you don't have much in your life and you're looking for an outlet .... maybe getting angry a lot is a means of getting the attention and interaction you really seek - even though it's not the best way to do things ..... perhaps you should try voluntary work .... it brings you into contact with many dfferent people, some you can identify with others not ... but it gets you out and gets you involved with situations not your own .. it also gives you something else to think about other than the things going round and round in your head .... you may find that by helping others you find a way of helping yourself .... see if you can get your doctor to get you into a group therapy situation .... my experience of this was a great help to me in my days of stress and depression - it did give me other things to think about but it also gave me thoughts of how to get myself out of my straits .... it took a few years -going back to school, but I've now got a degree and a good job - it doesn't happen over night - you have to use the tools and the experiences you are given ... but you've made an extremely good start by speaking up here now .....
I wish you all the best ......

Its possible you have genetic link.See menal healh specialist they don't charge you.
