Question about (possible) foot injury please help?

7-8 years ago some azzhole on a bike got mad because i didn't acknowledge his "advances". so he waited til i got further up the block & then he sped off real fast on his bike & ran over my foot on purpose, to hurt me. when he did that i tripped & was in alot of pain. my foot swelled up & i was hurt & mad as hell. i couldn't call 911 because he took off so fast & was gone. but within a couple of days my foot was FINE. i was able to wear high heel shoes every day like i usually do with no problem. this was 7-8 years ago.

the last 2 yrs i have not been wearing high heel shoes at all. recently i started back wearing high heels. now that same foot the guy ran over is bothering me & its difficult to walk in heels now on that foot. when i do wear heels after a few hours that same foot hurts really bad to the point that i can hardly walk on it the next day.

is my foot injured? would an injury manifest itself 7-8 years later? or is it just that i haven't worn heels in 2 years?

also, what can i do so that i can walk in my heels comfortably with no problem?

can i wear foot pads under that foot to take the pressure off of it when i wear heels? yes, i HAVE to wear heels most of the time because i am in the modeling business and heels are a DEFINITE in the modeling biz. thanks for your help :)

I would think the pain you're experiencing is most likely caused by the foot having to readjust to high heels after a long hiatus from wearing them. This is probably caused by weakening of the muscles from wearing flats or nearly flats for a long time. Basically, you're starting over in heels.

I also believe the injury is only complicating the issue because it was never treated properly when it occurred.

I would recommend a training program which includes strengthening exercises (like toe lifts...) and lots of stretching to limber up the entire foot. Consult a ballet studio for appropriate exercises to accomplish your goal as ballerinas are the true experts on foot strength and stretching!! You may also want to discuss this with your ortho or podiatrist to take a good look at the bone structure. There may be underlying damage which may be treatable even after all these years.

Most importantly though is take it easy!! Your body will need time to strengthen and adjust to wearing heels again. Pushing too hard can worsen the situation and prevent you from ever wearing heels again. Professionally or personally!! And that's one way to halt your career as a model very quickly if heels are required for any job you may be offered!!

FYI...I broke my right foot and before they put a cast on it, the ONLY way I could walk was with a 3" heel. Anything higher or lower hurt like all!! The fracture was on the 5th metatarsal near the top of the bone. It's typically called a 'Joiners' fracture or 'dancers break' because of where and how the injury appeared. This was over 6 years ago and even now, a pair of heels helps a lot when it starts acting up!! (And no, I wasn't wearing heels when I broke my foot...It was a fluke accident of landing wrong while running...) When they took the cast off (after 8 weeks!!) I had my left leg looking awesome and a chicken leg for the right!! My leg was SO WEAK after that!!

Good luck with all this!!

High heels tends to damage your feet and since you haven't worn them for a couple of years you are most likely still getting used to wearing them again plus the injured foot is just flaring again. It is not still injured but just causing problems as you get older. Most likely the pain is residual from the injury PLUS the abuse of high heels years ago.
