Foot injury on the treadmill? |
Hi- It sounds like you're starting to get arch strain consistent with plantar fasciitis and a little tendonitis as well. First, you need to take some time off of running to allow your foot to heal. Give yourself a 2-3 week break. Ice the area and take Advil/Aleve as needed for pain. If you have some old running shoes, it's time to get new ones. Also look into getting an arch support - I like Superfeet or Powerstep. You can get the Powerstep at www.healthyfeetstore.com. If none of these help in 2-3weeks, please go see your nearest podiatrist for an evaluation. You may need some custom inserts made for your foot. If you start getting swelling and pain on the top of your foot, that's a sign of a stress fracture and you definitely need to take a break if that's the case. Hope this helps! |
